I am on maternity leave. My post is currently being done by Ed Poulter.
My work involves helping small rural groups become more aware of current policy issues and ensuring that they are able to contribute their points of view at the right time and in the right place. I gather up the groups’ opinions on things that matter to them in order to pass them to our contacts in the region and in Whitehall. I also act as the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Coordinator for ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England).
Before joining Involve Yorkshire & Humber in July 2009, I worked as a European policy consultant in Germany, completing research contracts on the economic and social strategies of remote rural regions. I went on to gain a PhD in Human Geography at the University of Durham - my research focused on comparing consultation mechanisms in Scotland and France (my home country).
Outside of work I am an inveterate bookworm and enjoy nothing better than reading a good book (or ten). I’m also partial to the odd couple of pints in a quiet local pub on a rainy evening. I have a Level 2 Counselling Award, and I’m a volunteer at Durham Prison Visitors Centre.
