My role is to make sure Involve Yorkshire & Humber is an effective organisation living up to its aims and values. I link with our members, the voluntary and community sector and people in public and private agencies. I oversee support for staff and trustees, and line manage Emma and Sarah. I also lead on some aspects of policy and deliver some activities such as the Yorkshire & Humber Volunteering Network. I have worked for Involve Yorkshire and Humber since 2002, when I became its second Director.
I chair Regional Voices, the network of Forums across England, and lead on Stronger Connections for Better Health (our project with the Department of Health). I have strong working relations with some government departments.
My past experience is in community arts, including LAMP Community Bookshop (Leigh Alternative Media Project) voluntary and community organisations, including as Director of Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation, and church based organisations.
I have a degree in history from Sheffield University and a post-graduate diploma in community development from Manchester University.
Outside work I am a trustee of a local organisation. I like to cook and go to the theatre.
