Martin Edmondson is the CEO of social enterprise Graduates Yorkshire. Martin began running Graduates Yorkshire as a joint University and Yorkshire Forward funded project in 2006. He then led the unique spinout of Graduates Yorkshire from project to social enterprise, along the way developing a range of expertise in how third sector organisations can become self sustaining. As an organisation, Graduates Yorkshire is committed to utilising graduate talent in Yorkshire, and opening up opportunities for graduates in the region. This is done through an award winning jobsite, a nationally recognised Internship programme, graduate training and development, research and consultancy. Graduates Yorkshire then looks to reinvest profit back into the further training and development of graduates in Yorkshire. Martin also leads Gradcore, the national graduate employability and employment arm of Graduates Yorkshire.
Since spinning out, Graduates Yorkshire has been named the ‘best University spinout’ in the 2008 Yorkshire Post Business Excellence awards, ‘Best regional jobsite’ in the UK at the National Online Recruitment Awards, and twice been a finalist in the Startups awards as ‘Social Enterprise of the year’.
Personally, Martin brings knowledge from having worked in the public, private and third sector across his career, is a ‘Future 100 social entrepreneur’, finalist in the IOD young director of the year 2010 and one of the Yorkshire Business Insider 42 under 42.
