Parliament at night

Inside Parliament - Parliamentary Outreach workshops

Involve Yorkshire & Humber is organising a series of free workshops - Inside Parliament - to help organisations and communities understand and engage with the parliamentary process. (Priority will be given to rural areas.) The workshops are being facilitated by the non partisan Parliamentary Outreach Service, which raises awareness of the work and role of Parliament, in partnership with North Yorkshire Rural Voice, RISS, South Yorkshire Rural Network, Rural Partnership Plus, Rural Action Yorkshire and Humber & Wolds Rural Community Council.

Many people may not find the work of Parliament interesting, or have negative views on it, but the laws made and issues debated there have a significant impact on communities around the country. The workshop will demonstrate how to engage with Parliamentary processes to raise vital issues and make your opinions known.

Each of the workshops will cover:

  • Legislation

  • Select Committees

  • Parliamentary Questions and debates

  • Using the Parliament website and Information Offices to find useful information

  • The relationship between Parliament and Government

Inside Parliament is for any community group, support organisation, stakeholder or active member of the community. It is suitable for people with varying levels of knowledge and will include a mixture of presentation, discussion and group activity.

Each event will start with lunch and an opportunity to meet and talk from 12.00-1.00, and is limited to just 35 people.
