Syed Wasti
Regional ESOL Award Winner
Mr Wasti is 77 years old and he started learning ESOL in September 2009. In the last academic year Mr Wasti has achieved a Speaking and Listening qualification at Level 2. 
His ESOL tutor says 'What is remarkable about Mr Wasti is his enthusiasm, commitment and his refusal to allow his age to be a barrier to learning.' He is supportive of his fellow students, has a good sense of humour, and likes to demonstrate yoga techniques.
Mr Wasti says that he enjoys attending the class and doing something that he never had a chance to do before.
Yorkshire & Humber Adult Learners' Week is coordinated by Involve Yorkshire & Humber. Adult Learners' Week Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the life-changing learning done by people in communities all over Yorkshire and Humber, and the central role of the voluntary and community sector in supporting learning.
