Involve Yorkshire & Humber seeks to influence policy that has an effect on the voluntary and community sector and on the lives of the people and communities the sector works with. It is important that this work is done across Yorkshire and the Humber, especially as local support and development organisations do not generally have the capacity to carry out policy work.
We aim to do policy work where:
there is a Yorkshire and Humber angle
we have relevant expertise
the issue is important to our members and the voluntary and community sector
the issue is of extremely high general importance
Our policy work will generally focus on one or more of these themes:
health and social care
learning and skills
health of the voluntary and community sector
social and economic development
social justice
Policy proposals can come from national, regional, sub-regional, or local authority levels. We concentrate on how national and regional policy affects the people of Yorkshire and the Humber.
We try to make sure that what we say is informed by 'ear to the ground' intelligence, so the links we have with local organisations are extremely important.
We influence policy by:
responding to official government policy consultations
developing relationships with key organisations such as Local Enterprise Partnerships
being constructive and proactive
We publish briefings and reports, organise conferences, events and focus groups, update our website with news and cascade information through our networks.
